Blueboard complete, plaster is next….

The blueboard of the kitchen and addition is nearly complete so the prep begins for the plasterers.

Alex had a little fun trying on the stilts the plasterers wear to reach the ceilings and corners of the room.

Here are two angles of the new staircase.  On the left looking up the stairs, on the right looking toward the new first floor 1/2 bathroom.

Here are two views from the top of the stairs looking down, and looking at the entrance to the future master bedroom. (which for the short term will be carpeted and will become the rec room/ guest room).

Blueboard has begun!

Prior to the blue board being installed on the walls the plumber was busy laying floor and tubing in the future master bathroom in preparation for radiant floor heat!

The same kind of prep will be done in the kitchen as well.

It looks like a puzzle before they lay the floor.

Skylights on the porch

Today was a beautiful day to cut the skylights into the porch roof.  The insulation is complete and there will be three skylights- two fixed and one that can be opened.

Halsey is up on the roof!

Here are a couple of great views of the North side of the house. The brick steps are complete, and the siding needs to be completed.

The space continues to change as the insulation has been sprayed onto the walls.

Halsey is standing in the new kitchen.  The space feels more and more like a room now that the walls are filled in.

Once again a large (actually huge) truck has maneuvered into our driveway to deliver blue board that will be screwed onto the walls…. and then the walls will be plastered…
and painted! 

This truck has an amazing "arm" that lifted the drywall through the 2nd floor window to the upstairs space.  It saves a lot of hauling up and down stairs.  

Delivery complete, the kitchen is ready for blue board!!!

Little things can make a big difference...

This week the last of the windows were put into place in the downstairs hallway which makes a huge difference in the natural light that comes into the hall.

The lighting is evident from the top of the new stairway.

Walk down the stairs and turn on the landing and view the light pouring in from a window that was placed at the end of the downstairs hall.  This space will be an awesome nook in the future!

National Grid returns…..

Fast forwarding now to some closure on the work that was done in February.  National Grid returned to complete the gas hook up from the street to the house.

This time we had a bit more notice, but they always bring a huge entourage!

Odd jobs continue….

The interior framing and prep for blue board takes a steady constitution and attention to detail.  The plumber has been into the space to begin the rough plumbing, and the electrician has made a visit or two.

Note there is now a wall on the left where the old stairs used to be!

Upstairs a temporary railing has been put 

into place for safety.

Now the snow has finally melted and the back 

of the house is coming together.

Siding work continues in preparation for the last bit 

of roof work.
